Tales from the Vedas & Upanishads

"Tales from the Vedas & Upanishads" is a children's storybook based on ancient Indian beliefs and ideas which went on to become an Amazon best-seller in 2021. Working as a Visual Design Lead for this project with Amazon Publisher, I designed the structure of the book in order for it to be better understood by children as well as created compelling visuals for this book.

Product (Children's Book) Strategy & Design:

As a Visual Design lead, I collaboratively worked with Heartfulness and Amazon's Publisher on a children's book to share important ideas and wisdom from ancient Indian scriptures. I collaborated with the author to strategise the structure of the book in order to make sure the information was easy to understand, even for difficult topics like consciousness and morality. I conceptualised and depicted the complex ideas in the stories in terms of visual design.

Children's Book Feature:

I collaboratively worked with the author to formulate the structure of the manuscript. The context of the manuscript was completely focused on core ideals of Heartfulness. The special feature

about this book was the "Conclusion" page at the end of every story. This page included key takeaways from the complex ideas mentioned in the stories.

Visual Design:

The illustration style is maintained and consistent throughout for coherence and aesthetic appeal. It is greatly influenced by Indian culture, as seen by the utilisation of its traditional attire and architectural patterns throughout the book. The strokes and corners used are rounded for a gentler feel. The colour palette used is bright and vibrant in order to communicate the hopeful spirit of this ancient wisdom, making it eye-catching and attractive enough for kids to pick it up off the bookshelf.
